Gene Found That Protects Against Neurodegenerative Diseases


(January 6, 2014)  - Scientists from the University of Queensland in Australia report they have discovered that a gene called mec-17 has the ability to protect axons which in turn protect against adult-onset progressive nerve degeneration. Their findings show that the axon plays a crucial part in the health of the nerve cells and should be a focus for future research. Read more…
